On January 13, 2000, ACE-116W is still considering safety recommendations 99.283 and 99.284. It informs AAI-200 that ACE-116W acknowledges receipt of proof from Cessna that regulatory compliance is met. However, the certification process occurred years ago under a Delegated Option Authorization (DOA), so a direct review by the FAA is initiated to "ensure a complete investigation of this particular case."

2000 On January 18, 2000, Robert Lee Cunningham--FSDO; Orlando, Florida, the Primary Maintenance Inspector of ERAU, submitted a letter of concern to ERAU's Chancellor regarding ERAU's fleet of Cessna 172 model aircraft's hesitating engine problem.

 

On February 1, 2000, Scovill released inspection results from additional tests performed on his aircraft on January 21, 2000. The tests were performed with the aircraft leveled to manufacturing specifications.

On February 23, 2000, Dr. Connolly, Chancellor of ERAU, responded to Robert Lee Cunningham, FSDO; Orlando, Florida, regarding Cunningham's January 18, 2000 letter that expresses concern for ERAU's fleet of Cessna 172 model aircraft's hesitating engine problem.

 

On March 1, 2000, The FAA recorded additional inspection results obtained from an inspection performed on Scovill's aircraft February 23-25 by FAA representatives from ACE-116W. These additional inspections were performed on Scovill's aircraft in support of FAA Safety Recommendations 99.283 and 99.284.
2000 On March 10, 2000, ACE-118W notifies AAI-200 by memorandum of ACE-118W's completed review of FAA Safety Recommendations 99.283 and 99.284.  The memorandum discusses ACE-118W's findings and its planned action with Cessna Aircraft Company to close the safety recommendations.
On March 13, 2000, the FAA informed Cessna Aircraft Company of the FAA's planned action to close Safety Recommendations 99.283 and 99.284.
On April 10, 2000, Cessna Aircraft Company responded to the FAA regarding its planned action to close Safety Recommendations 99.283 and 99.284.

On April 28, 2000, FAA Inspector Criag Roberts records the results of the Water Egress Test performed on Scovill's aircraft on January 21, 2000.

On May 24, 2000, Jeffrey Janusz, ACE-116W, drafted a letter that discusses the subject "Investigate Design Flaw in Cessna 172P Aircraft."

On May 25, 2000, James Peterson, ACE115W, authored an e-mail that discusses "Cessna high-wing airplanes with integral fuel tanks."

 

On May 30, 2000, Cessna Aircraft Company continued its response to Safety Recommendations 99.283 and 99.284 in a letter to the FAA's Aircraft Certification Office in Wichita, Kansas.

On June 5, 2000, Robert E. Scovill, Jr. submitted a safety recommendation letter to Jim Hall, Chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). The letter stresses issues related to Safety Recommendations 99.283 and 99.284. 2000
