Memorandum
From the office of: Norman L. Horton

FOR FILE

19 May 1989

0915

Talked to Bob Alpiser of the FAA in OKC, (816) 426-6934. He saysthat AD 88-21-07, effective 6 November 1988 should be enough to solve the water problem in the PA-23. Basically it says just comply with Piper's instructions to inspect drains and seals in the fueling area. I asked him how that would take care of water pumped into the tanks from a supplier or from condensation.

1000

Bob Alpiser called back….he now says that several options are being considered:

1.

Increase the size of the gascolator.

2.

Install drains in the after inboard corner of each tank.

3.

Shim up the after inboard corner of each tank….as done on the PA-24…by service letter

He now, tells me to refer all future calls to the Atlanta office of the FAA.
