Mid-Continent Airport

Dear Sir:

Please find enclosed Proposed Revisions to Type Certificate Data Sheet 3A17 dated June 9, 1978. The changes are associated with incorporation of serials effecting the ending of the 1978 Model R172K and beginning of the 1979 Model R172K.

As previously documented by our letter of May 3, 1978 (ref. 80L5/8-8) we have adopted Airplane Flight Manuals for our 1979 model line including Model R172K.

As noted previously for the Models 152 and 172N, a combination regulator/ high-low voltage sensor device has replaced the regulator and overvolt relay installed on the 1978 models. A detailed description of this new device is contained in our letter on May 3, 1978 in which Proposed Revisions to the Type Certificate Data Sheet for the Model 152 were submitted.

The 1979 Model R172K has also been approved for an extension of 10-degrees of wing flap at 110 KIAS as on the 1979 Model 172N.

An optional fuel system with increased capacity is now offered for the 1979 Model R172K. The metal wing tanks have been deleted and an integral fuel cell (wet wing) now contains the fuel. The standard fuel system (short range) remains unchanged and continues to use a metal tank.

Those items affecting flight characteristics or structural integrity have been checked and verified by reports. These reports including DM-R172K-0, Addendum #2, entitled "Certification of the 1979 Model R172K" have been placed in the Delegation Option files.

Sincerely yours,
